Perspective

Youngest son says “that ladybug probably thought your jeans was the ocean”
Little red and black spotted creature lost amongst a sea of blue
Is this how we appear under the lens of the infinity, too?

Perspective is the thing 
We all have a different point of view 
Oh, how I wish that I could see these
matters the exact same way as you 

Would lead to greater understanding 
No miscommunication to be had 
Less arguing, fussing and fighting 
In our simple interactions we’d be glad

I’m nearsighted, that isn’t a metaphor here
I often lose sight of the bigger picture
I maintain that worry and confusion
will not remain in my sight as permanent fixtures 

I need to adjust my vision for you
in order to see a better future
I need to see myself being a better dad
that clarity would be really super

Perhaps it is enough for now to have a bit of self awareness 
and not to have my confidence completely snared along within it
I hope I won’t be a bother no longer because these thoughts are not kept in
It’s through this missive that I have gained a better perspective
