Poems Were Never Enough
Putting pen to paper these poems were supposed to be a temple, safeguard, my savior They have indeed set me apart and afar from others isolated and immobile without anyone to acknowledge these words They have indeed caged me inside a prison of my own hubris and pride But can I truly say the words have saved me? I think to a point that this union of thought and prose has set me free But I also know that poems were never enough More than rote encouragement is required to feel tough More than tired cliches are needed to truly speak off the cuff Please translate this whining into action Get me moving, get the change some tangible action Just as my hands join with the pen, More can be done Change can really be easy to begin Give a compliment or three Identify the vortex of feelings within Unleash yourself- myself- from the bonds of the original sin Are you yet feeling the slowly relaxing grin? Let that stanza stand as a reminder that inside, you always had the right stuff And that merely by themselves, poems will never be enough

Sometimes, leaving the maddening rivers of thought behind and moving straight into action can paralyze us - but it may be the greatest act of kindness we can offer ourselves.
